New Semester/Season of Significance/Much Gratitude

A summer of sunflowers is a summer for the soul.

Every since I was really little, a new school year has felt really special to me. This year comes after a rough spring semester and a summer of discovery. I was recently diagnosed with chronic migraines, which has been a trial and learning experience. Migraines are hard and managing them is hard. I love school though, and college is the best collection of everything I love about learning.

I am grateful that God leads me away from people who I am not meant to stay relational with. Letting go is good but hard and so, so necessary. I’m also grateful that God takes me straight into the arms of the people who are so, so obviously meant to be in my life and I in theirs. And a big truth: I am prideful and not always kind and obey less than I should but I’m lucky to have  a God that loves me anyway.

I’m looking forward to a new season of significance. One million more chances to touch and be touched. To be enchanted with this whole human experience. I cannot wait to be doused in afternoon tea in coffee shops, patios with twinkle lights, late nights of guitar and praise music, and Chinese flashcards. Recitals. Basketball games and deep dish spinach pizza. More politics because I love it. Silly subway rides. Mug trees have captured my heart – oh my soul, my soul, I am a forty-year-old woman trapped in the body of a nineteen-year-old. Farmers markets with pumpkins, and cinnamon rolls during finals week. It’s looking good, the future is good. Here’s to a glorious year.
